The Best Football Kicker EVER

Nigel Gruff #3 Washington Sentinels
The best football kicker ever is perhaps a little less known to the sporting world and is not in the NFL hall of fame. You may have heard of Jason Elam, long time kicker for the Denver Broncos who was solid and once kicked a record tying 63 yard field goal. A record which stood alongside Tom Dempsey, David Akers and Sebastian Janikowski until another Broncos kicker, Matt Prater, nailed a 64  yarder.

So is it Matt Prater? No, he now plays for the Lions but that's not why it's not him. Adam Vinatieri was clutch and all but he had Tom Brady and Peyton Manning putting him in good situations all the time.

Stephen Gostkowski is an awesome kicker for the New England Patriots who's longest field goal is from 62 yards.

Shoutout to Lucy Draper, a kicker for Texas State University Fightin' Armadillos but she wasn't even close to the best.

But none of those kickers are better than Nigel Gruff of the Washington Sentinels. They call Nigel "The Leg" because he can kick the ball the length of the field.

Yes, he was "The Leg" before Greg "The Leg" Zuerlein.

In Nigel's second pro game he managed to kick a game-winning 65 yard field against San Diego after taking a few drags off a cigarette on the field which drew the attention of announcer John Madden. Some kickers never get the chance to kick a field goal that long let alone make one as a game winner.

What did this dude do in the locker room after that kick? He was in his drawers smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer!

Nigel didn't hesitate to let the game be put in his hands err...leg. He told coach McGinty to let him kick it then told quarterback/holder Shane Falco "you hold it Shane and I'll kick the bloody piss out of it."

How you like them apples? Nigel didn't feel an ounce of pressure.

Nigel had a no fear attitude. When he first met Shane Falco at practice he walked past him saying, "Hey Shane Falco. I lost a ton of money on that Sugar Bowl disaster of yours. What a bloody shambles that was. You could smell the stink all the way back in bloody Wales."

In the bar fight Nigel told a bigger man about to attack him to stop then kicked him in the you-know-what and said "let's play football bitch!"

Another memorable moment was when Eddie Martel was back with the team and blaming losing to Dallas at half time saying "nobody can win with these losers." Which of course was the perfect time for Shane Falco to make his entrance saying, "I can."

When Martel went nuts claiming McGinty would get fired and this and that Nigel took his shirt off spit in his hands and got in Martel's face. The only knock could be his meltdown at the end of the Dallas game when he was worried about the mafia or whoever that was going to take away his pub for his gambling habbits and he was unprepared to kick a game-tying 32 yarder. Falco bailed him and audibled out of the kick.

All in all Nigel was
